Hello All:
In two days, on 12-26, I will be turning 54. WooHoo! I have always loved getting another year older. In celebration, and also after much soul searching, I am starting a blog. I've never blogged before, at all, and I truly consider myself a technological dinosaur. I decided that if I wait until I understand everything I'm reading about blogging, I probably would never get started. Therefore, if you're interested, you might check in as I will be posting both my first frustrations and successes. That is what life is all about now, isn't it?
I chose the name FiddleStix Country, because my husband, Jim, and I own a small wood shop attached to the house and our business name is FiddleStix Wood Works. We will be opening an Etsy shop sometime this year also, so we thought we would try to keep the theme going. I chose "Country" because we live in very rural Nebraska, in the only home Jim's parents owned and in which he grew up. It was left empty for 5 years before he moved back in and was in great disrepair. In fact, we don't even say that we are to the remodeling stage yet, as we are still reclaiming the house and the 4 lots that the house sits on.
Another reason for choosing "Country" is that I am most at peace when I am creating or out in nature, even if it's just taking a ride out in the country. I like country and primitive styles, but am also a bit eclectic. I like to tell folks that I plan on being the Crazy Old Bird Lady, known for feeding the wild birds and her other assorted eccentricities, when I am older. However, you can't become eccentric overnight, you have to practice at it a little bit every day.
I hope you will come and visit often as I flounder around and make my way through this process. Thanks for stopping by.
Godspeed!
Jules
